MULTIVERSE

Scenographic VR exhibition by award-winning creatives

Multiverse is a hypnotic full-body VR experience that combines interactive clouds-like visuals, bone-conducting bodysuits, synchronised breathing and immersive sound-score, ushering the user into a 8min multi-sensory ride.

The virtual scenario is manifested with cloud-like shapes in a black 360-degree background that becomes an all embracing cosmos of stars. The cloud-like sphere inherits the shape of a human body, dancing and ever-morphing as it interacts with the user through real-time feedback.

The narrative of the scenes leads the user through a deep exploration of the self and its multiple facets has they become a part of the dance. A voice introduces various elements of the journey, and guides the user through the different interactions within world of the Multiverse.

For this project Julia & Rudi’s have collaborated with Tobias Gremmler, a leading digital artist known by his previous work with Björk.

The soundscape of Multiverse, developed by Iain Armstrong, was created through acoustic sounds— the sound of smoke, of fluids, of air — as well as electronic frequencies and celestial tones in order to enhance the aliveness of the figures and transport the user into the virtual space. The sonic experience is enhanced by a transducer jacket, wear by the user, with 6 oscillators operating independently to facilitate a full surround perceptual inference. This jacket transmits precise frequencies throughout the user’s entire body, delivering a unique haptic (sense of touch) 360-degree experience. The bone-conducting sound jacket allows hearing-impaired individuals to experience this sensorial voyage.
