About Us

Who we are and why we do what we do

“We believe each human is a cosmic dancer,
with a unique gift: the body.
Here lies a Portal patiently waiting to reveal
the depth of our human potential.
Regardless of age, background, or ability, we all possess the artistry to access the transformative power of movement.”

— Julia Robert & Rudi Cole,
HUMANHOOD Founders

Our Vision

Our vision is for a world where humans are liberated from internal limitations. A humanity that dances is a humanity that thrives.

Dance is not something reserved for a special few, dance in its purest form is MOVEMENT. If you are breathing, you are dancing.

We are on a mission to bring the power of movement to communities worldwide, to anyone seeking a deeper connection with themselves, their body, and their own energy.

As we dance, we access our body’s portal and create a state conducive for liberation. Only through a sincere connection with oneself we can extend our presence to others; the collective as a union of empowered and awakened individuals.

People in our community are moving beyond the common momentum, together we practice becoming continuously aware of the quality of our existence, so we can consciously expand its beauty to impact not only our life but also that of others around us. And, one at a time, we transform as humanhood.

— Julia & Rudi

“The mystical couple… Julia & Rudi restore people to their original stuff, their original beingness… whether it is through dance, whether it is through words, whether it is through the radical beauty they both share together and individually.”

Jean Houston, Ph.D., philosopher and researcher in Human Capacities, advisor at the UN and Best Selling Author.

The Research

Julia Robert & Rudi Cole are continuously researching the fusion of ancient mysticism — past, the inner world — and modern science — future, the outer world — within the human body — present moment, the illusionary barrier between the inner and outer worlds.

These explorations have taken them around the world to connect with spiritual hermits, shamans and indigenous tribes from Ecuador, India, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, among others, sharing wisdom, rituals and savoir faires.

They have also collaborated with scientists, including physicists such as the NASA Kepler Mission’s leader on asteroseismology (the study of stars); challenging and enriching the dialogue between movement/dance and scientific research.

The research fuels from their incessant exploration of movement and the body’s potential, focusing on their personal insights through their holistic movement practice which they have practiced for long hours at a time both in the studio and in nature.

If you are breathing you are dancing.

If you are breathing you are dancing.

The Movement Philosophy

HUMANHOOD’s method is an entirely new paradigm of somatic movement designed to deepen one’s connection with one’s own body and energy.

Inspired by Julia and Rudi’s over 30 years experience as world-class dancers and choreographers as well as their passion for ancient traditions such as Chi Gong, Yoga, African Dance and Meditation, HUMANHOOD’s method was initially originated as a practice to help professional dancers connect to the spiritual essence behind their dance.

Far deeper than just a choreographed set of moves, the practice follows a channeled sequence that submerges participants into trans-like states, where dance becomes the catalyst for self-realisation. Here, in this expansive space beyond logic, we bypass the noise of the mind and tap into a profound state of flow.

HUMANHOOD practice is an invitation to embrace the language of the body, to go beyond restless thinking, and to immerse ourselves in the transformative power of movement, opening up to the un-known in ourselves and in our life.

Side effects of the Practice:

  • Increased Energy Levels and Self-trust

  • Released Trapped Emotions and Physical Pain

  • Strength, Coordination, Stamina and Flexibility

  • Heighten Awareness and Concentration

  • Psychedelic flashes and Transcendental experiences

  • Connection and a profound sense of Wholeness

HUMANHOOD’s story is a love story, ignited by the meeting of founders Julia Robert and Rudi Cole and their shared love of dance and movement.

Together, through rigorous training and spiritual exploration, they developed a unique, symbiotic, and fluid movement practice that lies at the core of their work and choreographic language. Rudi and Julia have spent the last 8 years traveling all over the world (and within themselves), researching various ancient spiritual traditions and questioning the human nature and potential, while channeling their findings into a modern movement method designed for all humans.

Since 2016, they have created five dance productions that have been performed in five continents at renowned festivals such as Venice Biennale in Italy, Festival Grec in Barcelona, Sadler’s Wells in London, SIDance in Seoul, CINARS in Canada and Loja International Festival in Ecuador. Their first dance film INFINITY was commissioned by the BBC and showcased on BBC in the UK.

In 2018, they received a commission by The Movement (Sadler’s Wells, Birmingham Hippodrome and The Lowry) to upscale their first-ever production ZERO. That same year they curated a special sold-out evening as part of Sadler’s Wells Wild Card.

The Story

In 2021, they were selected as part of Aerowaves21, became Associate Artists at Mercat de les Flors, and resident company at IAB. Their first group piece TORUS was nominated for best choreography at the Catalan Critics Awards, their second ground piece ∞ {Infinite} for best choreography at Premis Butaca, and their duet ZERO won 1st Price at the Madrid Choreographic Competition as well as the Tanja Liedtke Award at Hannover Competition, for which they were commissioned to develop their practice with Australian Dance Theatre in Adelaide.

They have received further special commissions by Without Walls, Greenwich&Docklands International Festival, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Déda Derby for their outdoor works ORBIS and SPHERA, which toured extensively in the UK and Internationally including Festival Tàrrega, La Mercè, Birmingham International Festival as well as being broadcast as part of Sadler’s Wells & BBC’s initiative: Dancing Nation.

Beyond the stage, Rudi & Julia embody their mission to bring the power of movement into people’s lives and have guided thousands of individuals of all ages and abilities to access the portal of the body through HUMANHOOD movement practice.

“Rudi and Julia have this special mix of artistic integrity, a signature style married to a truly compelling vision.
They are doing something in their own terms, honing in on the communal and spiritual nature the experience of dance and asking us to join them.”
